In this lesson we paint a variety of roses. I painted mine on a 12 x 16 Centurian universal primed linen. This universal primed linen is an acrylic priming so the paint sucks in a bit more than in an oil ground linen. I did add Quinacridone Red and Quinacridone Violet to my palette.

Richard I’m happy you enjoyed the video. I do not have french translations at this time. You could use the Closed captioning and read it in english if that helps. I’ll work on translations for future vidoes

A wonderful rendition Elizabeth, absolutely loved every stroke! Such a beautiful painting. U also watched a previous one in which you painted Amaryllis flowers, which was excellent! Once I sent Amaryllis flowers to my sister because her dog was sick. She fell in love with them! Maybe I’ll try a painting for Ger upcoming birthday. Loving the programme.

Today I ordered David Austin Heritage and a Munstead Wood bare root rose bush. It looks like it may take awhile to get roses to bloom. Last year I planted Tranquillity and hoping to see some blooms this year. Your arrangements are beautifully done along with a green thumb in the garden. Beautiful painting!

You should get blooms the first year but by the second year you’ll be amazed. Make sure you use good soil

By the way, one little nugget that I picked up on this one was how soft those greens are on the underside of some of those leaves. I always tend to go too dark, too chromatic with too much yellow. Valuable lesson in variety and subtlety!

Do you mean the one that is behind me? it’s actually a copper pitcher with green crab apples. I don’t have a lesson on that one but that’s certainly a good idea to have one
