May Challenge: Art Journaling

Our Challenge to you this month is to start an Art Journal.  Art journaling can spur on creativity by utilizing both writing and drawings to express yourself, your thoughts and emotions about a particular subject matter or the day.  Art Journaling can include a variety of materials like colored pencils, stickers, pens, magazine cutouts, watercolors, and even photos.  It can help with problem solving and promotes experimentation in your work.

Let’s see what you can do!  Post your pages that you are working  in our Facebook Inspired to Paint Students page so we can all be inspired!  We are so excited to see what you are doing!

Here are some ideas to get you started

1:  Create a page that focuses on what you are grateful for.  It could be your family, flowers, the sun…just put something down in writing then draw a sketch of that very thing you are grateful for.

2.  Write down some of your favorite quotes that inspire you.

3. Sit outside in the sun and draw a flower and put down in writing how that flower inspires you

4.  Gaze at the landscape and wonder at the marvels of seeds turning into wonderful trees and put down in writing your thoughts.

5.  Pick a flower and tape in your journal and describe it in artists terms.
