In this lesson we will take what we learned last month in our value study portrait and learn how to glaze a portrait. We discuss in depth the bands of the face meaning the forehead band, cheek band, and the chin band. We learn where need we need to be warm or cool, saturated or gray. Then we take all this knowledge and paint an all prima portrait of Caitlin. I’m still using the Zorn Palette. Titanium White, Ivory Black, Yellow Ochre, and Cadmium Red. As you watch the lesson you will see that I finesse my brush work quite a bit more in portraiture and rework areas quite a bit. I love the search that comes in portraiture and rarely do I make each brush stroke perfect. It’s a constant push and pull of paint finding just the right value and color. I hope you are inspired to paint.
