Preview of Painting Christmas Meadows

A well designed composition requires interesting shapes to keep your viewer engaged in your visual story.  We will learn in the video what makes a shape and design successful using the tools of size, dominance, edges, placement, and symmetry.  It is up to us as composers to keep the observer’s eye moving throughout the painting, as if to say I want you to look here, now look here, now here until all the parts of your design have been considered.  The placement of a beautifully crafted shape creates a focal point with coordinated shapes acting as subordinate players supporting your compositional theme.
